Having done so well with the rudd over the past two weeks thought that it was time to leave them alone and treat myself to a final zander fishing session at Old Bury Hill. Teaming up with Alan Stagg so that we could complete a video, soon to be released to viewers on OnlineFishing.tv we headed off well before dusk knowing that the zeds would be at the peak weight.

Taking aboard David De Vere’s advice we settled half way along the left hand bank where the deepest water is. It didn’t take long for the first bite to come and Alan landed a zander of around 7lb. Soon after l received three quick bites resulting in two modest zeds and a double figured pike.

The day then progressed in a hectic style and by the end of the day we had landed sixteen fish. I managed ten, three zander, a bream along with six pike including four doubles to around 14lb but l would have swapped all these for one fish, an 11lb zander to Alan who also managed five others, and all in front of the camera! Alan fished sprat tails whilst l used sardine cut into slightly bigger sections than him. What a session.

Monday it was my first trip to River Farm Fishery in the hope that a few roach would be obliging to the waggler attack. Matt at Korum arrived to get some shots, however the lake was proving tough and after a move eventually managed a couple of modest roach along with a surprise chub. My father and girlfriend’s father had joined me and between them they managed the odd good roach, Mick landing a personal best roach of 1lb 15oz.
