spacer Carp Boilie Crush a Versatile Mix - Paul Billington   27 JUNE 2010

It has been a less than average season for me so far on my local water. With the lake receiving mounting angler pressure and the bream seeming to be resident in only one area it has been tough to get amongst the fish.

With a couple of days booked off work I headed off to the lake hoping to land a good swim. On arrival the swim I fancied was just becoming free and chatting to the angler he reported a good session.
Weather conditions were looking good with warm nights and WSW winds forecast so it was looking good for my two-day session.
Ian had kindly sent me a few bags of the new Carp Boilie Crush which I was keen to try as its been doing the business for the bream for Duncan. I baited two areas – one at 70yds for the bream, a good clean area in 13 feet of water onto which I put 10 pints of mixed pellet, corn and boilie and a 2kg bag of carp boilie crush. My other area was on the side of a gravel bar in 7 feet of water, which I baited lighter for the tench.

Carp boilie crush is a very versatile mix – great for balling in as a carpet feed and a really good method mix. I chose to fish it in PVA sticks as this is my preferred method for bream and tench.

With the rods in place night fell and it was not long before the bream found the feed. At 11.50pm I connected with my first fish, just a double at 10lb 3oz. Three more bream followed before dawn with the best going 11lb 15oz.
As daybreak came the bream were off the feed and at 5am I had a flying run which was almost certainly a tench. The fish weeded me a few times during the fight but eventually my new equal P.B tench of 8lb 14oz was in the net. One more tench followed before the sun came up and the fish went off the feed.
My second night was not quite as productive – I blame the clear sky and a near full moon but that’s just one excuse from my large book of them! I only managed two more bream to 11lb 3oz but the tench fed well in the morning taking five more to 7lb 14oz.
All fish came to the PVA sticks of carp boilie crush with tutti fruiti boosted wrap and balanced corn stack hookbaits. Carp boilie crush is packed with food items and attractants and the fish love it - already it has become one of my favourite mixes.
