spacer New Hemp and Corn along with Prototype boilies - Alan Stagg   10 AUGUST 2009

After catching a nice bream last week I was understandably keen to get back to the lake for another go. Arriving late on Friday I was able to get back into the same swim I fished the previous week.

After setting up camp I set about introducing a bed of bait at 40 yards range.  My bait consisted of three tins of the new fantastic hemp and corn, and a bag of each 4mm and 6mm halibut pellets.

Method feeders formed the basis of my attack using 6mm scalded halibut pellets moulded around each feeder.  Hook baits consisted of two pieces of corn from the tins of hemp which are a perfect size and a lot more durable than any corn I have used before.  The corn was balanced with a small piece of rig foam and on my second rod I used a 14mm prototype boilie from Sonubaits.

Within the hour the bobbin on the left hand rod dropped like a stone.  Feeling heavy all the way in I soon netted a good bream.  On laying the fish on the mat it looked big, the scales read 13lb 2oz.  Through the night I had two further fish weighing 11lb 6oz and 12lb 6oz.

At first light Saturday morning I introduced another couple of tins of hemp and corn and a further bag of 4mm halibut pellets.  The day was slow but I did receive a couple of line bites confirming fish were still in the area.  At 7pm I had another bite and landed a smaller fish of 8lb.  Thirty minutes later and a further bite produced another double weighing 10lb 7oz.  The early hours produced my last fish of the session weighing around 7lbs.
