spacer 50/50 Match Method Mix and Tigerfish Helps Me To 50K Final - Adam Wakelin   31 JULY 2011
spacer spacer spacer

I've qualified for the £50K winner-takes-all final at Larford in August - and it's down to a deadly Method feeder mix incorporating a 50-50 split of Sonu Match Method Mix and Sonu Tigerfish groundbait.

The qualifier for the Maver Match This final was staged at Barston Lakes in the West Midlands and I drew a decent area, in the 20s.

I'd mixed the Sonu Match Method Mix and Sonu Tigerfish the night before the match. It was perfect on the day and well capable of staying on an extra large Method feeder that had to be launched 90 turns of my PXR 5000 Power reel.

For those interested, I teamed the reel with a 12ft 8" Dutch Master feeder rod, fitted with the extra heavy tip. I used 8lb Preston Power Max reel line with a .19mm Preston Powerline hooklength, tied to a hair-rigged size 14 Preston PR38 hook, which was loaded with either a red 10mm fishmeal boilie or an 8mm Sonu Fin Perfect Feed Pellet.

I ended the match with 30 F1s and six proper carp - biggest 10lb - to finsih 20lb ahead of my nearest rival.

I caught 30lb in the first three hours but then had an hour without a single bite. Fortunately as the last hour began the tip slammed round and I was playing the 10lb carp, the biggest of the day for me, and a great way to herald the final section of the match.

Now I am looking forward to the big final in August and I know that I'll be carrying supplies of my favourite Sonu Match Method Mix and Tigerfish groundbait as we look forward to what should be a great match.
