Just lately I have been really bagging up on F1s - and I’ve done it by using Sonubaits’ Supercrush Green groundbait, which I have mixed into a superb paste.

Here at White Acres we have sold out of SonuBaits Supercrush Green in the tackle shop, so the anglers are certainly cottoning on to just how effective it is.

But my latest result came with it at Tunnel Barn Farm in Warwickshire,  where I finished third in a Maver pairs qualifier with 133lb of F1s.

Mixing the paste is simple enough. I just take a three-pint bait tub, put an eighth of a bag of Supercrush green into the tub, cover it with water and mix it into a sloppy green soup.

Over the course of the next half-hour I will just add a tiny amount of dry Supercrush Green, a bit at a time, mixing it up and letting the ground bait absorb the water until I can form small balls of paste. This is the best way to do it because in this format, you can keep adding a  little water through the course of the day, and the mix will never go too hard.

I use pieces of paste between thumbnail size and down to the size of a pea.
Rigwise, I like to keep everything simple. At Tunnel Barn Farm the F1s can go up to 2.5lb, so they pull a bit. I used 15H Preston Hollo through the number 2 and three sections of my GIS 12 pole, with a Prestons Pullakit. My favourite float is from the Preston Colours range, the Gold pattern, in a 4 x 12, and I use .13mm Preston Powerline direct to a Preston PR36, knotless knotted but with a tag, in a size 12. I have a tiny olivette on the line, and one number eight dropper between olivette and hook. The rig is fished on my top three and I rarely feed anything other than just a few SonuBaits Fin Perfect 2mm micro feed pellets.

F1s can be finicky but this rig and the paste really sorts them out. Give it a try - you’ll love Sonubaits Supercrush Green for paste fishing!
