spacer Larford Win Thanks To 6mm Fin Perfect Feed Pellets - Des Shipp   18 AUGUST 2011
spacer spacer spacer

I’ve just enjoyed a win on Larford’s Match Lake with 130lb of F1s, carp and skimmers and I achieved it by using hair-rigged, banded 6mm Sonu Fin Perfect feed pellets.

I drew peg 36 on the chalet side of the Match Lake, just on the edge of the island. I decided to feed four areas – a Method feeder chuck to the island, a line at 10 metres for the pole, another line on the top five of my Preston Innovations Genis Absolute 14 pole and a line down the edge for lumps.

I kicked off on the top-five line, loosefeeding Larford’s own 6mm hard pellets and was into fish from the word go, fishing at full depth.
The rig was a 4 x 12 Preston Innovations Chianti model with all the shot tight under the float bar two number 10 shot. One of these was positioned a foot from the hook and the other was attached a foot above that, with the depth on my top five being around four foot.
I used Preston Innovations Power Line in 0.15mm diameter as my main line with a 0.13mm hooklength. The hook was a size 20 Preston PR36 with the micro band attached to a short hair.

The swim really started to hot up and I estimate that in my 130lb catch I had easily 40lb of skimmers, which were hitting the hard 6mm Sonu Fin Perfect feed pellet on the drop, often when the pellet had fallen no more than two feet through the water.

It was almost like roach fishing, with the skimmers, from 6oz to 14oz, hitting the hookbait on the drop.

About halfway through the match the five metre line started to slow down so I had a few casts on the Method feeder, where I ued a 50/50 mix of Sonu Match Method Mix and Sonu Tigerfish.

This brought me a couple of small carp but I could tell the Method swim wasn’t on fire so I came back close in and decided to fish on the deck at 10 metres. This proved a good move as I steadily caught for the remainder of the match, a 6mm Sonu Fin Perfect hard feed pellet doing the damage there, just as it had on the top five line.

It was a satisfying win and a simple enough rig. Why not try banded hard Sonu Fin perfect feed pellets next time out?
