After visiting the Sonubaits warehouse last week I was keen to get out and try the two new boilies that I can home with. Armed with the Action Crab & Crayfish and Session Fishmeal & Plum I headed off to my local club lake to target the Tench.

I was using a pair of 2lb test curve Avon style rods small bait runner reels loaded with 10lb line. My end tackle consisted of two Preston 2oz open ended feeders and 6lb hook links and size 12 talon tip hooks. The hook baits were either 15mm Crab and Crayfish or 15mm Plum Fishmeals. The ground bait was the green ground koi pellets from Sonubaits that was slightly dampended and loaded with small S-pellets.

I started fishing about 9pm and kept recasting the feeders every 20 minutes to build up a bed of bait.Over the next 24 hours I had what was probably one of the best sessions fishing for a long time.

My tally ended up with 30 tench landed and 4 carp.The biggest Tench weighed 7lb 7oz and the biggest carp was 25lb 4oz Common.

With the lake open for another couple of weeks hopefully I,ll get amoungst the Tench again and land one of the bigger fish.
