Sometimes it’s easy to miss a trick on the bank, in terms of what the fish want to eat, but a recent trip showed me the time is right to use Sonubaits’ F1 groundbait on the Method feeder.
I have put a lot of time in on the excellent Lindholme Fishery complex near Doncaster and have been winning an odd match and framing on the lakes there.
All through the winter the Method feeder, with 2mm feed pellets - we do the Fin Perfect ones in the Sonu range - moulded around it, has scored well.
But on a recent match I was puzzled to find that I could not get a bite. I was chatting to another regular who happened to walk past, watching the match, and he told me that fish had started to be caught on paste.
I thought for a minute about what he had said and decided to gamble on mixing some Sonu F1 Groundbait up and trying that around the Method feeder.
It was like flicking a switch as bites came immediately and I started to sack up. It made me realise that when fish start eating paste, groundbait around the feeder can outscore softened pellets. It is one worth remembering in the warmer summer months.
Give the F1 groundbait a try next time you go out. On shallow venues or when casting tight to islands in shallow water, it can be a killer in conjunction with the Method feeder.
