spacer Larford Success With Sonubaits’ New Spicy Meaty Method Mix - Lee Kerry   9 MAY 2010
spacer spacer spacer

I recently enjoyed a section win on a Maver Pairs qualifier at Larford on the match lake, when I used Sonubaits’ new Spicy Meaty Method Mix in conjunction with cubes of luncheon meat down the margin to catch a net of carp up to 14lb. I didn’t use it around a Method feeder, I just cupped it in, along with a few cubes of meat, whenever I felt the peg was going away from me a little bit.

My rig was a new PB Carp 3 float in a 4 x 12 with a simple bulk of shot a foot from the hook, in this case a PR21 in a size 16, tied to a 0.13mm Preston Powerline hooklength. Main line was 0.15mm Powerline with a 13H Preston Hollo elastic in the Preston Pullakit on my Gis Absolute 12 pole.
I fed steadily, not wanting too many fish in my peg at the same time, so I kept to five pieces of meat, with some of the Sonu Spicy Meaty Method Mix sprinkled over the top every now and then to trigger fresh interest.

For readers who perhaps haven’t seen this new groundbait yet, the Spicy Meaty Method Mix is a blend of spices, pellets and fishmeal extracts, which turns a vivid red colour when wetted.

The aroma it gives off is strong and I don’t think fish have any problem homing in on it when you introduce it to your swim. I believe it creates interest by colouring the water, too, and the success I had with it at Larford underlines its attraction to the fish. I have also used it on a Method feeder and it binds well and stays put until a carp comes along and sucks in the hookbait.
