After catching another small bag of silver fish we decided to head up river to Candle Dyke, planning to quiver tip fish as by now the holiday boat traffic made running a float through unpleasant.

I mixed up a 50/50 blend of Hali and Hemp Crush with Exploding Fishmeal Feeder with a handful of Superscent Hemp, into a damp mix so that it stayed in the feeder until it hit the bottom and would then slowly release a stream of small particles giving the fish something to home in on.

Fishing double white maggot we were soon into the Roach, all in the 4-8oz bracket and then something a little larger turned up. This was the best fish of the day and so with a smile we made our way back ‘home’ pleased with the numbers of fish and happy that the river was so healthily stocked.
