I'm not usually one for experimenting too much with baits or groundbaits but in recent weeks, since the spring weather started to kick in, I have been having some great success with the new Sonubaits F1 groundbait - and I've been knocked out by its pulling power for different species.
In the past fortnight I have had a win at Partridge Lakes at Culceth, a win at Bannister House Fishery, near Maghull, and section wins at Irlam's Blundells Fishery and Warrington's Brookside Fishery.
For skimmers and carp it has worked best when I have overwetted it slightly and fed nuggets by hand or in a pole pot, fishing with a Sonu Fin Perfect 4mm Expander pellet over the top.
But when ide have been the target, as they were a few days ago at Blundells, I found that they go mad for the F1 groundbait mixed very dry and poured in, so that it hangs in the water.
In fact, I have caught ide that have been vomiting the groundbait, which is a first for me, at any rate!
What I like about the F1 groundbait is that it gives the angler the best of both worlds, with a fishmeal base with a sweet aroma, rather similar to brasem.
You can mix it dry or you can overwet it and still get away with it, because it really can absorb an awful lot of water due to its secret ingredients.
I also reckon it will be spot on for fishing on the dry side when using an open end feeder for skimmers in shallow water, as it will explode from the feeder and hang in the water, attracting the fish in.
This spring, give the Sonubaits F1 groundbait a try. My results have improved because of it - and yours will, too!
