After last weeks success on the bream front I was eager to return to the big pit again. Having several article deadlines much of my time this week has been taken up writing. However, I had some pictures to complete for Angling Times so it sounded like a good excuse to return for a quick overnight session

The plan was to head over Friday after work, cast the rods out and do the pictures in the morning.
I arrived at the lake at around 6:45pm. I hoped I would be able to slot back into the same area that had been producing. Wheeling the barrow up the path I was glad to see the area was free. After getting sorted I soon had the marker popped up at the required range. One tin of the new Sonubaits Hemp N Corn was mixed with a bag of each 4mm and 6mm halibut pellets, again from the Sonubaits range.
After spodding for a good 45 minutes it was time to get the rods sorted. Using method feeder with stacks of corn from the new tins I balanced each one with a small piece of yellow rig foam. I decided use scalded 6mm halibut pellets to bind around my feeder.
Casting both rods next to the marker it was time to get some tea on. Just before dark a bite came out of the blue and the bobbin on the right hand rod dropped like a stone. Sweeping the rod back the fish felt fairly heavy all the way and a big dark back broke the surface and a big bream was slid across the net. On the scales the fish weighed 12lb 5oz.
Another success on the new tins of Hemp N Corn!
