This beautiful 13lb Common carp helped me, Jon Parks, to a section win in the latest round of our Winter League campaign fished at Frant lakes in Kent.

I spent most of the match fishing a small preston method feeder with soaked 2mm Fin perfect pellets moulded around it. Hookbait was the ever reliable 8mm Competition hook pellets hair rigged to a size 16 PR36 hook with a Korum bait spike.  

The method produced 10 Carp in the 2 to 3 pound bracket. All the match I kept feeding Sonubaits Hemp and Corn down the margins ready for a look in the last hour for one of the bigger Carp  that can be found patrolling the near shelf.

15 minutes from the end of the match as the light was fading I slipped a piece of Corn on the size 16 PR28 hook and dropped it down the edge. The float sat there for less than a minute then just disappeared.
A firm strike met with solid resistence and a good 5 minute battle followed. The Carp was no match for 0.15 powerline and original slip no.12 elastic set up on a pullakit.

That was the end of the action and I weighed in 41lb for a comfortable section win.

The Team also had a good day with 5 section wins that helped us to win the round and close the gap at the top of the league.

The Kent Winter League is proving very competitive this year but the remaining rounds are all on commercial fisheries so we will be able to use the range of Sonubaits products to good effect, as we slipped up on the first round on the river Rother and have it all to do to hold on to our title.
