Well, what a week. Normally I try to write my weekly report after each session but things have been that hectic, what with writing articles and sending off catch reports that I've left it to the end of the week.

I decided that the Cemex Lake that I’ve been concentrating on owed me a Grass Carp and as it was during the early hours of Monday morning the rod intended for them ripped off resulting in a personal best of 32lbs 2oz. A tutti-frutti Boosted Wrap fished snowman style did the business fished close to a size 10 Korum S3 hook, 12lbs Fluorocarbon hooklink in connection with a braided hair, inline 2oz lead surrounded by scolded 6mm Sonubaits halibut pellets, fixed on a length of leadcore. This rig was cast to a showing fish at dusk and also accounted for a 6lbs 7oz tench.
The following evening l was back in the same swim, fishing almost identical apart from l changed one of the Crucian rods from a corn hookbait to a 8mm S-Pellet. This was because l felt that the crucians were getting away with my rig as during the night lots of bleeps were occurring. I also drop the length of the hooklink by two inches to one of four inches. At 12-45am the pellet was picked up and a fish of a lifetime dropped in the net, a crucian of 4lbs 3oz 8drams!
As if two personal best weren’t enough l spent a few hours on the River Loddon on the Thursday and after five hours and ten swims hadn’t raised even a slight pull, so decided that if no action came by 2pm we would call it a day. It was literally one minute too, when my 13mm Sonubaits Hard Halibut pellet was finally picked up in a swim my brother said he never fails. The fight was slow and heavy and after a couple of anxious moments a huge chub was looking at me. At 6lbs 9oz it was my third personal best of the week and without a doubt the best week in terms of specimen fish of my career. Will it continue, l will try my best but things this good don’t last forever!
