On Saturday the girlfriend suggested that we go fishing for a few hours and with the weather so mild it was off to Frensham again. To be honest, after a busy week l could have quite easily stayed at home with my feet up but knowing she’s always bought me luck agreed, and luck l did have!
The rods were out by 5pm and straight away a perch came quickly followed by two rudd, both going 2lb 8oz! From then on it was hectic with a further nine specimen rudd gracing my net including another three two’s of 2lb 6oz, 2lb 9oz and the best of the winter 2lb 12oz, as well as three tench.
By 8pm the rods had fallen silence and with the air temperature dropping to 4.5 degrees we called it a day. What a session.
Constant rain on Sunday meant cancelling the long journey to Kent perch fishing on Tuesday, so l decided to head south to a lake that l hoped wouldn’t be effected to much from this. It took around two hours for the first bite which was from a 3lb 5oz perch, followed at lunchtime from a surprise 3lb 8oz eel, then after numerous aborted runs another perch finally slipped up, this one going 3lb 14oz!
Friday, my birthday was a real action packed day as my father and l managed to get to perch paradise once more, catching five more, 2lb 2oz, 3lb 1oz, 3lb 2oz, 3lb 5oz and a best for dad at 3lb 9oz! Packing away at 3pm it was an hour drive home where l collected my van from the garage, it passed the MOT, then headed to Sky Sports, south west London to complete the Friday Tight Lines slot. To say l was knackered come the evening was an understatement and with the weekend weather taking a turn for the worst l will be putting my feet up before hopefully another eventful week.
