I won a Maver Pairs match at Kent's Hartleylands commercial complex thanks to a combination of Sonu Baits' Match Method Mix Dark in conjunction with 1mm Sonu Fin Perfect Feed Pellets.

I had 187lb of carp, around 120 fish, for the weight, using banded 6mm Sonu Fin Perfect feed pellets or 6mm yellow banded pellets in conjunction with a PR38 size 16 hook.

I used a full 2 kilo bag of Match Method Mix Dark, which I tipped into a bucket and added a smattering of dry 1mm Fin Perfect micro feed pellets. The correct ratio is four parts groundbait to 1 part micro pellets. I then added two pints of water and the mix does the rest, ending up perfect.

I used a Preston 10ft carp feeder rod with 8lb Korum line and a 30gramme inline Preston medium sized Method feeder.

I had a cast of around 40 yards, which the rod handled easily, and it was a busy old five hours. Unfortunately me and my pairs partner Steve Mayo didn't make it through to the pairs final because although I won my section he was beaten by four anglers in his half of the draw. So it was a case of close, but no cigar.
