After my first visit to my local River Blackwater being such a success I decided to return to the river two days later after a little rain.

Conditions where spot on and arriving at the river after dark it looked in top condition being a little coloured and pushing through well. I decided to settle into the same swim as before and introduced half a tin of Sonubaits Hemp ‘N’ Corn and a couple of handfuls of mixed sized halibut pellets again from Sonubaits. I quickly tied a new rig and threaded a prototype boilie from Sonubaits onto the hair and gently lowered it onto the feed.
Line bites soon started as the fish moved up onto the feed and I had to wait 45 minutes before the tip finally went over. After quickly grabbing the rod I knew I was into a good fish as it went hard for the snags downstream. Not giving an inch of line the fish surfaced and within a couple of minutes was resting in the net.
Placing the fish on the mat it looked a lot bigger than I had first thought. On the scales the it went 11lb 12oz. A new Blackwater record, which Angling Times confirmed the next day. Another good result on the prototype boilies and tins of Hemp N Corn.
