Monday – Headed south for a bream overnight session. The first bite at dusk produced an eight pounder, yet it was at 10pm when whilst playing one of similar size realised that one of my other rods had a fish on. On picking up my Korum Precision 2.75lb Specialist rod l knew something special was on the other end and at 15lb 3oz fell just an ounce short of a personal best.
Tuesday – The alarm awoke me at 5-30am after an uneventful night and scanning the lake little was moving. I wasn’t expecting anything but whilst packing away and with rods left on the ground heard a clutch go on one of my KX150 Freespools which resulted in a bream of 10lb 8oz and whilst playing this another bite came to one of the other rods which resulted in a 12lb 6oz bream, proof that the last things to pack away should be your rods! All the fish came to corn stacks fished over sixty balls of Sonubaits Spicy Meaty groundbait laced with a mix of pellets, corn and binded together with lots of CSL and F1 flavouring. The rest of the day was spent doing fishy things like sorting out tackle for Wednesday’s perch session, communicating with the Angling Media, Sponsors as well as firming up a few guiding days for April.
In the evening l dropped in on Marsh Farm and chatted with my dad who was fishing before crawling around on all fours over the practice pitch at Farnham Golf Course where l collected 150 lobworms in just twenty minutes!
Wednesdays – The perch session got off to a bad start and even after a dawn start the landing net had yet to be put into operation by midday, however a move to another swim bought four quick perch including two threes, the best 3lb 7oz.
Thursday - I spent the night under the stars, mainly to secure the perch swim for a feature the following day for Onlinefishing.tv and duly cast a couple of eel rods out which produced two tiny eels.
Friday – Up at 5.30am and before the cameraman arrived l quickly managed two perch, the first weighing exactly 3lb, the other just a pound. Rubbing my hand together l thought the flood gates were about to open but apart from one missed run mid morning the day past without incident and by five ld had enough, however somewhat disappointed, l have to be content with a three for the cameras. In the evening, although knackered, l completed all the fishy paperwork that was needed to have a weekend off!
