when you find yourself on a few fish, as I did on day two of the recent Maver Classic final at Larford, it can pay off to try using the Sonubaits Banded Pellets in conjunction with the Method Feeder. When the weather is fine and the sun is fairly bright in the sky, a white chocolate or yellow pineapple banded pellet in 6mm size is easy for the fish to spot when they home in on the Method feeder.
On this particular match I drew on Arena Lake and won my section with 122lb of carp, fish averaging around 3lb apiece. I tackled my swim using a 10ft Preston Innovations Mini Carp feeder rod, the reel carrying 8lb line with a medium-sized Preston Method feeder weighing 15 grams attached in-line.
The hooklength was 0.17mm Preston Powerline with one of the new PR38 hooks, with a micro-band tied to the hair. The band is simply slipped over the boilie pellet and it allows you to catch and get back out there quickly, without any faffing about threading baits onto a hair-rigging needle.
Banded Pellets sell for £1.99 per pot and you receive two pre-tied hooks with bait bands in each pot. Flavours available are White Fish, White Chocolate, Pineapple and Carp. Banded pellets are available in 6mm, 8mm and 12mm sizes.
Give them a try this summer. Because they have a burr on each end, these Sonu Banded Pellets don't slip off the band and when you are bagging up, and that's a great help, as it is possible to catch several fish on one bait.
