Spring is here and I thought I'd outline a few key tips for bagging success using the range of Sonu Baits products including the incredible new Fibre Paste!
On the up. This time of year the warmest water is the top 18 inches, therefore carp and other species will see it as a natural place to look for food. I like to fish shallow on commercials using Sonu Fin Perfect feed pellets. Typically catapulting 4mm pellets regularly will soon attract interest from carp. I fish this in conjunction with a hair rigged hard 6mm Fin Perfect pellet. By continually working the bait, you can fool even the wariest fish.
Try The Paste. The new fibre paste is in the shops now, and with the weather on the up there is no better time to try it. I often feed a ball of Sonu F1 groundbait to kick the swim off, then because the Fibre Paste stays on the hook, you can ignore the liners and wait for a proper bite.
Mellow Yellow. The water will start to colour up quickly on your favourite commercial venues now, this is because the fish start to become more active stirring up the bottom. In these conditions I have had great success with Sonu Baits' pineapple mini boilies. I like to fish them in conjunction with the Method, and as they come conveniently pre-drilled, I simply use a Korum Quickstop on a hair-rigged Preston PR36 hook.
Try The Margins: Fish will be thinking about spawning soon, so another natural hang out is the marginal cover. If allowed I like to feed Sonu Baits' Hemp n Tigers mix. This oily particle feed holds fish in the swim for long periods. If fishing the pole I like to use some paste over the top, or alternatively hair-rigged tigers straight from the tin!
