Visiting a Cemex venue within a stones throw from my home for the first time in a session to unlock its Tench potential for a soon to be featured AT feature produced this personal best tench of 10lbs 3oz.

Float fished perfection
I had visited the lake a few days before and decided on a swim that contained features to its left and right then returned the night before with a marker and spod rod. After locating the marginal drop off, I then deposited a mixture of Hemp, Dead Maggots via a Gardner spod along with a few balls of Sonubaits hemp and hali crush groundbait.
Returning the next day at 3pm, in far from ideal conditions, high pressure and an easterly wind, I was only looking for a sign that the Tench were waking up, but got more than I bargained for as after just 15 minutes the maggot feeder rod ripped off producing a Tench of 5lb plus. My other line of attack was by fishing a waggler off some submerged bushes and after a couple of missed bites that I assumed were small fry a better fish was hooked which at first was thought to be one of the resident common carp, but after a short unspectacular fight I slid the net under a new PB. Another 5lbs tench on the feeder rod came later in the day.
Tackle I used to land the PB was a 13ft Preston 13ft Carbonactive super float rod (this was the first fish landed on this rod!) 5lbs Korum advanced reel line with a 3-75 Grand Match Hooklink, size 18 super specialist barbed hook baited with double red maggot under a1BB Crystal Waggler.
