Everybody has a favourite groundbait and my absolute favourite for skimmers and bream, whether fishing the pole or the swimfeeder has to be Sonubaits’ S Pellet groundbait.
This is a light, fluffy groundbait that is hard to mix incorrectly and it does the job of drawing skimmers into your peg very well. I tend to mix it on the bank, using the lake water, and I usually kick-start the peg by using a ball of S Pellet Groundbait about the size of a ping-pong ball.
It creates a lingering cloud and draws fish into the peg.
I never add any loosefeed to the groundbait, preferring to pot odd pellets or maggots in separately, but it is a superb groundbit which I also happily use through the feeder, mixing chopped worm in with it to create a great feeder food supply to the shoals of slabs I am targeting.
A lot of the lads in the Preston Innovations DELCAC team also swear by S Pellet groundbait and we have been using it on a teams of ten winter league series at Frant Lakes near Tunbridge Wells in Kent.
Whether it is summer or winter, S Pellet groundbait ticks all the boxes for me, so why not give it a go next time you target a skimmer venue?
