A lot has been talked about recently about Sonubaits' new F1 groundbait. No doubt it is a brilliant groundbait and its sweet aroma will be excellent for F1s, carp and bream. However, it is the new Sonubaits Super Crush Black that has resulted in success for me recently at two different commercial venues.
Firstly at Tunnel Barn in Warwickshire, then at the fabulous Lindholme Lakes near Doncaster, where F1s and small carp have been the target, and I have caught match-winning weights to 117lb.
I have been feeding the fisheries' micro pellets in order to stick to the rules, but wherever possible I prefer Sonu's 2mm Fin Perfect pellets. I soak them overnight with enough water just to cover the pellets. This means in the morning they need separating, and this is where Black Super Crush black come in.
I put the dry mix over the pellets and riddle off the excess. This separates the pellets nicely and creates a fine dark attraction coming off the bait as it sinks. This definitely helps attract fish into the peg and gives them confidence to feed more positively.
Using 4mm Fin Perfect expanders, in conjunction with this bait, works well, and I often separate these with the Sonu Super Crush Black as well, to match my hook-bait with the feed. This style of feeding works well in up to four foot of water, where I like to use the new Preston PB Inter 7s floats. The short bristles help the rig settle quickly, which means more fish in the net by the end of the match.
Give it a try next time you use pellets, and let the dark cloud creatyed by the Super Crush Black give you something different to the angler on the next peg.
