Before I knew it the new season was upon us and I headed to Frensham in search of a big rudd.

I had landed over 50 2lb rudd in the last two seasons but had yet to get a really big fish with my PB standing at 2lb 9oz. I felt I had been unlucky so I headed back with this in mind. A two week campaign fishing a few evenings a week plus the weekend produced some big bags of rudd. The first weekend produced 9 fish weighing over 2lbs with the first bite of the season producing the fish I had been looking for weighing 2lb 13oz and a new PB to boot. I managed fifteen 2lb fish during the campaign including a bag of tench one morning, which weighed well over 150lbs. All fish fell to regularly baiting with Sonubaits Hemp N Corn and using maggots sprinkled with Supercrush Green.

Net stop was eels and using small dead roach and rudd I managed one take in around ten nights fishing which produced a 4lb 14oz fish.
