spacer Fin Perfect Expanders Help Me To Mini League Section Win - Des Shipp   5 OCTOBER 2011
spacer spacer spacer

I've just fished a match at the Landsend Fishery near Bridgwater in Somerset and managed to win my six-peg section using Sonu's 4mm Expander pellets to trick 39lb of small carp from the lake.

The venue is a snake-type lake with islands with gaps in between them down the middle. It was a very windy day but I still managed to fish with my Preston Innovations GiS 14 pole tight across at 13 metres, in about a foot of water.

Lifting and dropping the 4mm Sonu Fin Perfect expanders was the key to succcess, with the odd cadpot of dryish Sonu Match Method Mix introduced in lulls in sport, to try to attract a few extra fish into the peg.

I used a Preston Innovatiomns 13H Hollo elastic on a Preston Pulla Kit and fished quite fine, using a hooklength of 0.11mm Preston Innovations Powerline to a .13mm Preston Innovations Powerline main line. The float was a 4 x 10 PB Inter 8, with a simple bulk of four number 10s shots, positioned seven inches away from the hook which was a Preston PR478.

The Sonu Fin Perfect expanders are great to use and easy to pump. They keep their shape nicely, even when kept in a little water, and I've had many great results with them over the past few years.

Through the course of the day I fed no more than a quarter of a pint of Sonu Match Method Mix groundbait - it was just an aid to attract fish into the swim and I did this by dropping small nuggets from a height, so the groundbait made a plopping noise. This is like a dinner bell to hungry carp and you should try it on your local commercial venue next time bites start to dry up.
