Arriving at a lake three hours late is never a good way to start an overnight session and I hurried to get organised before the darkness came.

I had two new Korum Precision 2lb Specialist rods and this was my first opportunity to try them out! I had already attached my SS2600 and after threading my braided mainline through the rings I then tied on my leadcore leader.
My right hand rod was baited with a 15 mil Action Crab & Crayfish boilie and was placed four foot along the bank under a tree with a scattering of 10mm and 15mm boillies. I then took my other rod and walked down the bank and dropped my pop up rig about four inches off a developing reed lined margin.
I then jumped into my sleeping bag and drifted of to the land of dreams and monster carp. The night turned out to be milder than I had anticipated and when I was woken at 02:20 by a small catfish it felt quite summery. After quickly releasing the catfish I retied my rig and once again cast a Crab & Crayfish boilie back to the baited area. I quickly got back in my bag and returned to my land of dreams.
05:15 and my bite alarm screamed out as I lifted the rod and bent into a very powerful fish. The fish took me out into the centre of the lake and then it decided to take me into a reed bed and locked me up! I kept the pressure on the fish and eventually if but reluctantly the fish came free of the reeds. I slid my landing net under the fish and bit through my mainline and hoisted the fish onto my unhooking mat. The fish was a good upper twenty and a fantastic result, Two trips out with the C&C and two twenties. Am I pleased, you bet. I secured the fish and waited for an early day ticket angler to appear. An hour later Dave Proctor turned up and did the pics then I was off to work happy!
