spacer Tailor Your Feeder With Spicy Meaty - Lee Kerry   18 AUGUST 2010

The Sonubaits range of groundbaits and pellets is so versatile that you need never be stuck for fish-catching options - and I put the Sonu Spicy Meaty Method Mix groundbait to good use recently in two different ways on trips to Barston Lakes in the West Midlands.

On the first match I was targeting skimmers and bream and I decided simply to feed 4mm Sonubaits' Fin Perfect Expander Pellets through a cage feeder. I find that by dusting the expanders in a tiny amount of the Sonu Spicy Meaty Method Mix, I can just nip the pellets inside the feeder without them coming out on the cast.

On the hook I was hair-rigging either two 4mm Sonu Fin Perfect Expander Pellets, or one 6mm Sonu Fin Perfect Expander. It worked a treat and I caught 60lb of skimmers for a lovely day's fishing, doing something a little bit different to the norm.

I was back at Barston a couple of weeks later for the Kamasan British Open Final. The water was heavily coloured and I knew that carp would be needed to put a potential match-winning bag together, so I decided on a more aggressive approach using a Method feeder with the Sonu Spicy Meaty Method Mix wrapped around it.

For use on the Method feeder, simply add two pints of water to the bag of groundbait and mix thoroughly, leave this for 45 minutes to allow the groundbait to fully absorb the water and riddle. It is equally suitable for use in cage feeders or can be balled in when mixed slightly dryer.

My thinking is that the bright red colour that comes off Sonubaits' Spicy Meaty Method Mix is something that the fish can see in coloured water. Again, I caught 60lb of carp, which wasn't enough to win me anything in the final, but these two examples of the versatility of Sonubaits products underlines that they are versatile and can help you put more fish in the net every time you go fishing.
