Since my last blog I had still been concentrating on the large pit. Things had been unpredictable and after taking three fish in quick succession I thought I had cracked it.

A couple of sessions the week after produced a further two bites resulting in a couple of modest size fish. I had been hoping for a better stamp of fish, however they seemed far out numbered by their smaller companions and I felt a bite from a real big fish was going to be hard to come by. Not one to give up I carried on for a further few sessions before I knew it was time for a rethink.
On my way to from the tench lake I had been keeping my eye on another venue. Keeping in touch with the water I felt it would be worth a night or two and see what would happen, which proved a good decision. The last week has produced 17 bites in three sessions resulting in 15 tench mostly between 6 -7lb 8oz with the best two weighing 9lb 1oz and 9lb 4oz, which fell on consecutive mornings and part of an 11 fish haul.
Baiting with small but regular balls of Hemp & Hali crush combined with maggots has proved a deadly combination.
